Lapsang Souchong – From £14.99
Sourced from the beautiful Wuyi Mountain region of China's Fujian Province, this fine black tea has a distinct smoky aroma and taste, created from methods used during the drying process. Leaves are dried over pine wood fires to develop complex woody notes, complementing their natural flavours, and resulting in a delicious, well-balanced and robust tea.
Excellent tea, it’s my wife’s favourite, lovely Smokey smell, like a traditional open fire at home. Nice rich colour, and a slightly nutty flavour.

I’m really happy with the Assam leaf I ordered. I contacted the company to check it was large leaf Assam and got a very speedy reply. The tea is a good strong clear flavour and you can replenish the teapot several times getting a good number of cups from it. I shall order again.

Ceylon Orange Pekoe – From £11.99
A high-quality whole leaf tea sourced from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis tea plant, which is found in the highlands of Sri Lanka. The Orange Pekoe category of tea grade is one of the highest back tea grades available, gaining its renowned status from the characteristic wholeness of the leaves, which are obtained during the first flushes (pickings) of the season.

I love teas, and keep a selection. However, the Ceylon Orange Pekoe is our 'house' tea, the go-to tea throughout most of the day. Satisfyingly flavoursome, and yet light and refreshing, it gets me through my writing day. When I wrote a book about the history of tea, I visited Loolecondera Estate in Sri Lanka - where Scotsman James Taylor founded Ceylon's first tea estate in 1867. Tea Direct's Orange Pekoe transports me back to that memorable visit.

Produced in the warm, humid climates of West Bengal, where fresh, clean air imbues the leaves with delightfully floral aromas, Darjeeling Tea Leaf is an excellent, light tea that offers up delicate fruit flavours, which are characterised as Muscatel, in reference to the Muscat variety of grape.
This tea is of excellent quality with a delicate yet distinct flavour. I take it without milk, and be brew for about two minutes - delicious, refreshing, reviving.
