Earl Grey is one of the world's most famous flavoured teas, traditionally named after Charles Grey, the 2nd Earl Grey, who served as Prime Minister during the reign of King William IV in the early 19th century. Legend has it that the original recipe was gifted to him by a Chinese mandarin whose life he had saved.
The tea's distinctive character comes from natural bergamot oil, extracted from the rind of the fragrant bergamot orange. While there are many variations of Earl Grey, each differs according to the base tea and the style of bergamot used.
Our luxury Earl Grey is expertly blended using premium Chinese black, Assam and Nilgiri teas, creating a rich, balanced cup that perfectly complements the bright citrus notes of bergamot. A scattering of vibrant blue cornflower petals adds an elegant finishing touch.
