Freshly Packed to Order

Our teas are carefully packed to order to preserve aroma, freshness, and flavour

This sweet and mild white tea is made from unopened tea buds and the two newest leaves to sprout. Freshly harvested leaves are allowed to dry in the sun, and the natural oxidation that occurs gives Pai Mu Tan beautiful and complex flavours. Floral aromas of fruit blossoms combine with clean fruit flavours, sweet melon and a well-rounded finish to make this a favourite of tea-lovers.

Also known as White Peony in reference to the tea's delicate, white appearance, Pai Mu Tab tea is grown in the Fujian Province of China. White teas are known as the least processed of all tea types, which help to retain the natural flavours and aroma. Leaves are plucked when they are still covered in fine white hairs, before being sun-dried (unlike other tea types, white teas are not fermented or oxidized).

Customers praised this white tea for its "light, refreshing" and "subtle flavour" with "grassy" notes. Shoppers recommend brewing at 80°C and using half the leaves compared to black tea. The tea offers great value and quality, produces good second brews, and is lower in caffeine. Enjoyed best without milk.

I prefer white tea to green, so this light tasting floral tea is a great tea during the day. Great second brew and lighter in caffeine.

A genuinely subtle tea packed

A genuinely subtle tea packed with grassy flavours. I brew to around 80°C to limit any bitter notes. These leaves are chopped a little smaller than I'm used to so I don't brew for as long to get the colour and flavour I like.

Refreshing and top-uppable tea

Delicate flavoured tea. Use maybe only 50% of the leaves you would for black teas, et it stand for 5 minutes and drink it without anything added.

Something different

Loving this at elevensies - it's a very subtle flavour and a nice change from herbal and black tea

Quality purchase.

Pai mu tan or white peony is a refined and elegant variety of Chinese white tea and my purchase definitely lived up to these expectations.
Quality makes all the difference and that's what I received from tea-direct. Always opt for luxury tea and don't make the mistake of buying cheap inferior brands.

It’s a bargain

The price might look high but remember you only need half as many leaves as you would with other teas. The flavour is great - drink it without milk. Some might enjoy the addition of a small splash of pure lemon juice.
