Chai Spice Tea combines the wonderful flavours of quality Assam black tea with spicy cardamom pods, cinnamon, ginger and cloves, ginseng roots and ginkgo leaves. The addition of bay leaves complements the other flavours well. This delicious beverage is the perfect energiser to drink in the morning or afternoon. A robust and warming tea.
Chai tea, also known as masala chai, originated in India, and the word "chai" simply means "tea" in many languages spoken in the Indian subcontinent. The exact recipe for chai tea varies across personal tastes and regions, but typically includes a blend of spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and cloves.
The origins of chai tea can perhaps be traced back to ancient India, where Ayurvedic healers are believed to have used various spices to create tea blends for medicinal purposes, a practice that over time evolved to develop the beverage enjoyed today around the world.
